Endymion’s ‘Hommage a Brahms’ programme has always been a firm favourite with ensemble & audience alike, with the recent concert on Sunday 5th December 2015 at Riverhouse Arts Centre, Walton-on-Thames for Elmbridge Music Club no exception. Opening the evening with Beethoven – Violin Sonata No. 10 in G major, Op. 96, Krysia Osostowicz (violin) & Michael Dussek (piano) were later joined by Steve Stirling (horn) for the titular Ligeti – Trio for horn, violin & piano ‘Hommage a Brahms’. The evening was concluded with Brahms – Trio for horn, violin & piano in E flat major, Op. 40 which when programmed alongside Ligeti’s ‘Hommage’, offers the audience an intriguing context for both works.
